Homemade Worcestershire Sauce
I’ll bet half of the recipes I make for my family contain homemade Worcestershire sauce. If I were to do research on a variety of sauces, I would say more than 75% of famous brands contain unwanted ingredients. These ingredients include types of chemicals, artificial ingredients, corn syrup or too much bad salt.
I promise you, if you start to make your own homemade Worcestershire sauce and keep a glass container of it in the fridge, you’ll thank me. Most likely, you will come back to this blog and give me a ton of love in the comments for helping you get started on this wonderful journey of making your own condiments!
Where does “Worcestershire” come from?
According to Wikipedia, Worcestershire sauce or Worcester sauce is a fermented liquid condiment invented by pharmacists John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins in the city of Worcester in Worcestershire, England, during the first half of the 19th century. The inventors went on to form the company Lea & Perrins.[2]
However, they do not own a trademark for the name of “Worcestershire”. In addition, the particular recipe in this blog, is very different from their recipe. The only really fermented part of this recipe is the soy sauce and definitely doesn’t include anchovies!

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
